I moved back to Spennymoor, County Durham, in 2025, after twenty years in London and another ten spent travelling here and there. It is good to be home. It's a bit chilly though, so I'll just put a jumper on.
I’m a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist, a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Master Practitioner and an accredited practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register.
I specialise in helping people reduce unnecessary fear, change unhelpful patterns and feel more in control of their lives. My approach is calm, practical and compassionate, with enough lightness and humour to make therapy feel human.
Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of people make meaningful and sometimes powerful changes. I don’t believe in treating people as types or following exactly the same script with everyone. We are all different, so good hypnotherapy begins with listening: understanding what is happening for you, what you would like to change and what approach is most likely to help.
I offer a free initial consultation, either face to face in Spennymoor, by telephone or by video call, for anyone considering hypnotherapy in Durham or the surrounding area.
This gives us an opportunity to talk about what you need and whether I believe I can help. It also allows you to decide whether I’m the right hypnotherapist for you. There is no pressure, no hard sell and no wounded pride if you decide to go elsewhere.
Rather than simply trying to push a symptom away, I help clients understand and change the thoughts, feelings and learned responses that may be keeping a problem in place. I like to practice brief therapy, this won't be a long drawn out process of change.
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. During hypnotherapy, you remain aware, involved and in control while we work together to develop more helpful ways of thinking, feeling and responding.
The brain is extremely good at learning patterns — including some we would rather it hadn’t. Hypnotherapy can help it begin learning something more useful.
Here's a silly video explaining a few things.
